It Is Written Receives Recognition from Colombian Government

This fall, It Is Written received special recognition from the government of Colombia, acknowledging the important work of Escrito Está, It Is Written’s Spanish-language ministry, in that country. Senator Lorena Ríos Cuellar presented John Bradshaw, It Is Written president, and Robert Costa, speaker/director of Escrito Está, with an official expression of appreciation on November 29, 2025, during the closing ceremony of a union-wide evangelism initiative.

For the past three years, Escrito Está has broadcast a weekly 30-minute program and, more recently, shorter, two-minute devotionals three times a day on City TV, a major channel in Bogotá, the nation’s capital. As a result of this partnership between It Is Written, the Inter-American Division, and the Southern Colombian Union, over three million people have watched Escrito Está. More than 10,000 were baptized in 2025 alone!

Pastors Bradshaw and Costa met with Senator Ríos Cuellar after the presentation, praying with her and encouraging her in her work of defending religious liberty and family values. “This was an unexpected blessing,” said Pastor Bradshaw. “Senator Ríos Cuellar told me how grateful she is that It Is Written is making such a major contribution to Colombia. She is very encouraged by our emphasis on the biblical values that strengthen families and give young people the opportunity to have a bright future. This was no small thing. We’re living in the midst of a spiritual war, and God is using It Is Written to combat the darkness and shine light into hearts, homes, and communities.”

One example of how God is using Escrito Está to shine light was seen in the experience of a Catholic priest, Mateo, who watched Escrito Está online and on City TV for 10 years before accepting the full truth of the Bible. At the November 29 event, Pastor Costa baptized Mateo, and the two men rejoiced together as he emerged from the water! You can read more of his story here

God is working in a mighty way in Colombia through the media evangelism ministry of It Is Written. “That the Congress of Colombia has voted on an official resolution recognizing our work is a miracle in a country where, until recently, there was only one official religion enshrined in the constitution,” said Pastor Costa. “This is an open door for the proclamation of the three angels’ messages within the framework of the everlasting gospel.”

That among its powers, the Senate of the Republic has that of recognizing the outstanding work carried out by individuals and institutions for the benefit of the country.

That the SEVENTH-DAY ADVENTIST CHURCH has the worldwide work “Escrito Está,” which is the Spanish-language ministry of It Is Written, a work dedicated to producing television and digital programs centered on the Bible. The SEVENTH-DAY ADVENTIST CHURCH has, since 1956, consolidated a Christian communications ministry that has succeeded in bringing a biblical message of hope to millions of people in more than 140 countries, being a pioneer in religious broadcasting and a reference in the production of content centered on the Scriptures.

That the SEVENTH-DAY ADVENTIST CHURCH, in its purpose of also reaching Spanish-speaking audiences, gave rise in 1994 to the ministry Escrito Está, which this year celebrates 31 years of continuous work, consolidating itself as the most widely distributed Spanish-language program of the Church and extending its mission through television, the internet, evangelistic campaigns, and humanitarian projects.

That the SEVENTH-DAY ADVENTIST CHURCH, through the leadership of Pastor Robert Costa, has strengthened the reach of Escrito Está, achieving the annual production of 72 television programs, 365 daily devotionals, and approximately 15 international campaigns, which have resulted in thousands of spiritual decisions and humanitarian support to remote communities through the donation of boats, bicycles, water filters, and solar radios.

That the SEVENTH-DAY ADVENTIST CHURCH, aware of the spiritual, formative, and evangelistic impact that Escrito Está has developed for more than three decades, considers it appropriate to grant an institutional recognition that records its faithful commitment, its contribution to the dissemination of the Christ-centered message, and its sustained service to various communities at the international level.

This Commendation of Recognition was requested by the Honorable Senator of the Republic, Dr. Lorena Ríos Cuellar.

For the foregoing reasons,
